Warning: This post is all about Zuri’s Barbie toys (that she and I share)! Are you a Barbie fan, too? Read on and enjoy! 🙂
There are just so many different kinds of toys nowadays. But if you ask me what my ultimate favorite toy is, I’d say it’s Barbie. Barbie is a huge part of my childhood. I have many fond memories of Barbie. I owned my first Barbie doll even before I knew how to talk.
I love Barbie dolls. There are so many things one can do with a Barbie doll. I remember when my sister cut her Barbie’s hair when she was a child. I asked her why she did that. She told me not to worry about it because hair grows back anyway. Hahaha. I think that taught her an important lesson about living and nonliving things.
It is no surprise that Zuri loves Barbie, too. I schooled her early in all things Barbie. She especially likes mixing and matching her Barbie dolls’ clothes, shoes and accessories. She even throws Disney Princess dolls into the mix for the ultimate game of dress up. Barbie wears Elsa’s icy blue dress while Cinderella wears Barbie’s towering heels instead of her usual glass slippers.
Over the years, I’ve had a number of Barbie dolls. Some of them survived til I was old enough to get married, most of them already long gone. Those that survived I gave to Zuri when she was 2 years old. As I’ve said, I schooled her early. Way too early. Unfortunately, she was too young then to take good care of my old dolls. They all ended up with their heads ripped off.
Zuri was about 3.5 years old when she started her own Barbie collection. By then, she was already old enough to gently play with her toys.
This Basic Barbie doll with straight blond hair, pink and purple dress and pink wedges, is the very first Barbie doll in Zuri’s collection. We bought it from Landmark Trinoma for PHP 450.
This was soon followed by another Basic Barbie Doll and a Barbie Princess Ballerina Doll which we bought from Toys r Us Trinoma when we chanced upon a sale there.
This Basic Barbie doll’s hair used to be purely white like the color of Elsa’s hair, but now it has pink streaks. I wonder what Zuri did to this Barbie’s hair. Haha.
Even before our chance visit to Toys R Us, Zuri already told me she wanted a ballerina doll. I did not want to waste money on a toy that would easily get broken. I wanted a doll that would last so I knew it had to be a Barbie doll. This Barbie Princess Ballerina Doll that Zuri and I found at Toys R Us Trinoma was exactly what we were looking for. 🙂
I love the color combination of this ballerina doll’s outfit. Zuri loves her tiara. Both her tutu skirt and tiara are removable, perfect for playing dress up with other dolls. The top of her dress, though, is fixed. We also love the brown color of her hair.
On her 4th birthday, Zuri received two more Barbie dolls as gifts from friends. One was a Basic Barbie doll from the same collection as her Basic Barbie Doll with white hair. This new Basic Barbie Doll has blond wavy hair, pink and black dress and black heels. It also has a pink necklace which can not be taken off (because the necklace is too small for Barbie’s head).
The other gift was a Barbie Iron-On Style doll.
This Barbie Iron-On Style toy set comes with 1 Barbie doll with straight blond hair and bendable knees, 1 silver fashion necklace, 1 pair of hot pink heels, 1 denim bolero, 2 sleeveless tops, 1 one-shoulder top, 1 gray skirt, 1 pink skirt with velcro at the back, 1 garment board, 1 non-heat iron and a number of permanent decals.
Zuri designed this Barbie’s clothes by sticking the permanent decals on the clothes using the non-heat iron and the garment board.
Zuri was able to design clothes for Barbie. How cool! She has a few more decals left which she can still use in the future to design more clothes for Barbie. 🙂
On one rare occasion, Daddy Rupert took Zuri to Toy Kingdom SM Aura and told her to choose whatever toy she liked. (I say that was rare because it was usually me who goes shopping with Zuri, not Rupert.) Zuri chose a Barbie And The Secret Door Basic Alexa Doll.
The Barbie And The Secret Door Basic Alexa doll has a removable skirt, tiara and wand. The top of her dress, however, is fixed. Zuri likes her pretty skirt and shoes. Zuri likes to pretend Alexa has real magic.
The next addition to Zuri’s Barbie collection was this Barbie I Can Be… Pet Groomer toy set.
We saw this Barbie I Can Be… Pet Groomer toy set at Toy Kingdom SM Megamall. It was on sale for PHP 1,200.
The set comes with 1 Barbie doll with bendable knees and a movable arm (moves up and down, as if scrubbing) with a control button at the back. The Barbie doll is wearing a cute pet groomer’s uniform with purple wedges. The set also comes with a grooming apparatus with sink and water spray, two puppies and tiny accessories such as a scrub, a pair of scissors, a pet shampoo and two hair clips.
The grooming apparatus uses actual water that comes out of the water spray. When cold water comes into contact with the puppies, brown “dirt” appears on their bodies. Warm water “washes off” the “dirt”.
Zuri had so much fun playing with this toy set. She loves playing with water and Barbie I Can Be… Pet Groomer was just perfect! Too bad the hose of the water spray was pulled out of the grooming apparatus and we couldn’t put it back anymore. 🙁
For Christmas that year (2015), Zuri received two more Barbie dolls, one from a friend and one from me. 🙂
Zuri received this Basic Barbie doll from a friend for Christmas in 2015. Her dress is so pretty! She’s also wearing a pair of very cute black high-heeled mary janes. 🙂
This next Basic Barbie doll was one on my gifts for Zuri last Christmas. This particular version of Barbie was on sale for PHP 300 for the longest time, but I actually bought this doll as part of a buy-one-take-one promo for only PHP 400 from a Toys R Us Sale at Trinoma Activity Center last December 2015. I gave the other Barbie doll to one of Zuri’s girl classmates.
I love this Barbie’s lovely curls. Zuri and I think her dress is pretty! 🙂
Zuri has completed this Barbie Basic Doll collection.
Note that the rightmost Barbie doll did not come with a necklace unlike the other two dolls in the collection. Maybe that’s why I got it at buy one take one promo?
While waiting for our flight to Tagbilaran in January this year (2016), Zuri bought this Barbie Fashionista Accessories Pack at NAIA Terminal 3.
This Barbie Fashionista Accessories Pack contains 1 pair of really cool black boots with gold details, 1 pair of glittery red high heels, 1 sunglasses, 1 gold bangle, 1 gold necklace, 1 gold bag and 1 red purse.
These accessories kept Zuri busy while waiting for our flight. She particularly likes the gold ones because she thinks they’re pretty. She says gold is her favorite color. Zuri likes dressing up her dolls with these accessories and even lets her Princess Anna doll borrow the cool black boots.
A few months ago, Zuri bought a Barbie Beach Ken Doll from Landmark Trinoma for PHP 499.75. At the same time, she also bought a Ken formal wear set for PHP 549.75. (Yup, the outfit is even more expensive than the doll itself.)
The Barbie Beach Ken Doll comes with beach shorts and sunglasses. Zuri had long wanted a Ken Doll so that he and Barbie “can date”.
Because the Barbie Beach Ken Doll does not come with a lot of clothes, Zuri also got a Ken formal wear set, which is perfect for going out on a date with Barbie. (Yes, she actually uses the word “date”.)
The set comes with a formal jacket, formal pants and blue formal shoes.
Ken looks so handsome in formal wear! 🙂
Here is Zuri’s Barbie doll collection. 🙂
A surprise padala for Zuri arrived the other day. It was a Barbie Fashionistas Doll from her Mommy Lola and Daddy Lolo.
This barbie Fashionistas Doll is the latest addition to Zuri’s collection.
This doll comes with a cute white and pink outfit, a gold necklace, a blue purse and a pair of black shoes. It strikes a pose very similar to Zuri’s favorite OOTD pose! Haha! 🙂
This Barbie Fashionistas Doll has light skin color, Asian features and black hair.
So far, this is Zuri’s only Barbie with black hair just like hers. 🙂
