King Chef Dimsum Kitchen, The Block, SM North Edsa

Oct. 19, 2016

It’s been a long time since I went out on a date with my little one with no one else but just the two of us. Her class schedule prevents us from going out on weekdays while Daddy Rupert is at work. On weekends, we do go out on family dates but not mother-daughter dates.

Because Zuri is already on her semestral break, I was able to take her out for lunch and a bit of shopping yesterday. When I asked her what kind of food she wanted to eat, she told me she wanted her favorite Chinese food – siomai.  So I thought we could eat at Tim Ho Wan at SM North Edsa.

Zuri and I rode a jeepney to SM North. My little one was so excited! I paid for her seat so she would be able to enjoy the ride. But she said it was still “sikip!” Haha!

We entered SM North Edsa through The Block. The first thing we saw was a Chinese restaurant called King Chef Dimsum Kitchen. Because we were already hungry, we decided to try this restaurant instead of going to Tim Ho Wan.

It was our first time to try King Chef Dimsum Kitchen so we had no idea which dishes to choose except for Zuri’s siomai. Anyway, I chose the following: Pork Siomai, Soyed Chicken Rice, Beef Brisket Noodles, Mango Sago and Regular Coke in can.

Zuri and I loved King Chef’s Pork Siomai! Zuri loved it so much, she ate 3 pieces while I ate only 1 piece. Hehe. I love it when my picky daughter eats a lot. The siomai was so yummy with lots of chili sauce. I wish I got two orders of the pork siomai! 🙂

We also loved the Soyed Chicken Rice. Zuri loved the chicken and the sauce with rice. The chicken was perfectly soft while the sauce was rich and tasty. Zuri did not like the pechay, though, because it was a bit bitter. I especially liked the Soyed Chicken with a bit of ginger sauce. 🙂

Zuri was excited to try the Beef Brisket Noodle Soup but quickly changed her mind after one sip. “Not yummy for me,” said my picky one. As for me, I found the Beef Brisket Noodle Soup to be just so-so, no wow factor.

For dessert, we got Mango Sago. I thought it was just so-so like the Beef Brisket. I’ve definitely tasted way better Mango Sago elsewhere. But Zuri loved it! So, yes, will definitely buy it again! 🙂
