The loom band fad is so 2013-2014, I know. The fact that it is no longer in fashion is punctuated by the very low prices of loom band kits in every toy store we go to these days. What can I say? We’re late bloomers. We just recently found out about the joys of looming when Zuri got a loom band kit from a friend’s party.
Zuri won this FunLoom Bracelet Making Kit when the party host asked for the name of the first human to ever go to outer space and Daddy Rupert gave the correct answer (It’s Gagarin, by the way, not Armstrong). The FunLoom Bracelet Making Kit comes with one FunLoom frame, one FunLoom hook, 600 100% silicone bands, several C clasps and detailed instructions as to how to make your very first loom band. From an original price of PHP 599.75, this kit was bought for only PHP 50 (91.66% off) from a Toys R Us store. What a steal! 🙂
Zuri made her very first loom band with my help. I let her choose what colors she wanted to use and what sequence she wanted the colors to follow. It turned out she didn’t want to follow any sequence at all and just picked the bands randomly. Below are photos of Zuri’s very first looming experience.
I also made two loom bracelets for Zuri. One is Frozen-inspired while the other is classic black.
I like looming because of the following reasons:
1. Zuri gets to practice her fine motor skills.
2. Zuri gets to use her creative juices because I let her create her own design.
3. Zuri gets a sense of accomplishment when she finishes a bracelet.
4. Looming is a nice bonding activity for me and Zuri. (Next time, we will make sure Daddy Rupert joins us. Hehe.)
5. Looming is not expensive at all (because prices are discounted).
On a side note, Zuri’s 4th birthday is coming fast. I bought three loom band kits from Toy Express, SM Department Store, SM North EDSA for only PHP 30/kit (from an original price of PHP 149.75) for Zuri’s party.
All in all, we’re very happy with our new hobby. I just have one question, though. Feel free to message me your answer. Is looming harmful for kids? Because if it is, of course I wouldn’t want to cause any harm to my daughter or anyone else. Assuming, of course, that looming is done with adult supervision.
Thanks for reading! 🙂
